Healthy Porridge Mix-For Diet

Porridge are quite a healthy, filling breakfast dish which is usually prepared with oats cooked in milk and served along with nuts,fruits or else simply with honey..My version of porridge goes for a powder prepared with sprouted green gram,sprouted horsegram, sago,quinoa, oats, barley,flaxseeds, wheat,ragi and brown rice..This porridge mix is really very handy and very filling breakfast porridge for people who were dieting..Adding horsegram to this porridge mix turned out this mix as an interesting porridge coz horsegram are very much adviced to the peoples whoever wanted to reduce their weight, usually this porridge mix goes for nuts like almonds and cashews which i skipped completely in this mix...U can cook this porridge mix with milk or water by adding honey or sugar, my choice goes for water and honey, its such a filling breakfast sometimes i dont even feel tired or hungry for long hours..Sending this healthy mix to my own event Let's Sprout, Kiran's CWF-Barley and finally to CWS-Sago guest hosted by Niloufer...

Healthy porridge mix

1cup Sprouted green gram
1cup Quinoa
2cups Sprouted horsegram
1/4cup Sago
1/2cup Barley
1/2cup Brown rice
1cup Wheat
1cup Rolled oats
1/4cup Flaxseeds
1/2cup Whole ragi

Dry the sprouted green gram and sprouted horsegram in sun or over a thick towel for overnite..once everything gets dry, dry roast all the ingredients given for making the porridge mix one by one until a nice aroma comes, keep aside and let them cool completely...Grind this roasted grains as fine powder, sieve the powder, grind again until all the grains get finished and conserve them in air tightened bottle..

Making Porridge:
2tbsp Porridge mix
1cup Water/milk
Honey/Sugar

Bring boil the water or milk, add the porridge mix, mix well without lumps, finally add the honey or sugar and enjoy for breakfast...

Sukku Kuzhambu/Dry Ginger Gravy

Sukku or dry ginger have enormous medical values and this kuzhambu is definitely a healthy and comforting food whenever anyone at home have severe cold or cough...My mom used to make out this sukku kuzhambu  when its rainy and this kuzhambu tastes absolutely divine when its cold out,this gravy makes me nostalgic.. i just love this kuzhambu with papads..Its has been a long i prepared this sukku kuzhambu and today i prepared for our lunch since am not feeling good coz of the recent climate changes..Delicious gravy tastes awesome even after a day and with loads of medical values this gravy is truly a home remedy for colds,cough also protect against the respiratory and digestion infections...


1+1/2cups Tamarind extract or 1tbsp Tamarind paste
10nos Shallots (cut as two)
1/2no Tomatoes (crushed)
1/2tsp Chilly powder
Salt
3tbsp Gingelly oil
1/2tsp Mustard seeds
1/4tsp Urad dal
1/4tsp Fenugreek seeds
Few curry leaves

To Grind:
1no Dry ginger (big piece)
1tsp Cumin seeds
1tsp Peppercorns
2tsp Coriander seeds

Dry roast all the ingredients given in the list 'To grind' until they turn golden brown..keep aside, let them cool...Grind as fine powder and keep aside..If u r using tamarind paste, make a tamarind juice with enough water..

Heat the gingelly oil, add the mustard seeds, urad dal, fenugreek seeds and curry leaves, fry everything until they turn brown, add the shallots,chopped tomatoes and saute until they turns transculent..meanwhile add the already prepared powder, chilly powder and salt to the tamarind extract..Add this spiced tamarind extract to the cooking veggies and let them cook in medium flame for few minutes until the oil gets separates..put off the stove..

Serve hot with rice!!

Home Remedy - Orange Peel Face Pack

Home made beauty tips are extremely fantastic without spending more money also coz of the natural ingredients we need to prepare them..I always goes of moongdal powder or cucumber face mask whenever i feel like preparing a face mask..My lastest face pack is this orange peel powder prepared by drying the orange peels and making them as powder, a prefect face pack which help to remove the tan,excellent for prevention and treatment of acne, brighten your skin also balance the skin tone by giving a radiant look without any cost...Instead of throughing the orange peels just dry them in the sun or besides the heater(if its winter)...A fantastic home remedy for young gals who were suffering from acne and oily skin..Am sending this Orange peel face pack to Home Remedies Series 2 guest hosted by Ruchikacooks, event by A2Z Vegetarian Cuisine...


1cup Orange peel (dried in sun)
Milk as per need

Grind the dried orange peel in a mixie as fine powder, conserve this orange peel powder in an air tightened box, use as per need..Put this face pack twice a week..


Make a face pack with a tablespoon of this orange peel powder and milk, make a paste and apply over the face and neck...Once they get dry, wash the face pack with water..U will see definitely ur face turns absolutely smooth ,free from oily skin after frequent use of this face pack...

Sukku (Dry Ginger) & Dhaniya Coffee

My mom used to prepare this sukku & dhaniya medicinal decoction or coffee twice a week whenever she feels like having, she used to give us a cup of this flavourful coffee by insisting us which was quite like a poison for us when we were kids, but now i can understand why she insisted us to take this fantastic home remedy coffee which contains beautiful spices...This sukku coffee mainly goes for dry ginger, dhaniya(coriander seeds) and black peppers which are grounded as coarse powder and boiled with palm sugar to get this coffee, needless to say that all these spices are quite healthier and have many medical values which help us to overcome unsupportable chilled weather..This coffee helps a lot for digestion,cough,mild fever, nasal congestions,vomitting sensation in empty stomach when we woke up earlier..Now whenever one of us were down with fever or cold, i used to prepare this decoction immediately..Its quite a routine at our home and sometimes we can turned out this coffee as kashyam by using holy basil leaves (thulasi) which is quite available in India as herbal thulasi coffee..I cant leave India without a small bag of sukku, chittirathai and many other medical valuable spices as they are really very rare and quite expensive in Indian groceries..



Method 1:
1/2cup Sukku (dry ginger)
1/4cup Black peppercorns
1cup Coriander seeds
Palm sugar as per need

Grind as coarse powder all these spices and store them in air tightened box...Heat a cup of water , add the teaspoon of this spice powder and palm sugar as per ur need,bring them to boil..strain the coffee and enjoy immediately..

Method 2:
1no Sukku (small piece)
1tsp Coriander seeds
4nos Peppercorns
1tsp Palm sugar

Grind coarsely the dry ginger(sukku),coriander seeds and pepper corns, add immediately to enough water and bring them to boil, strain the coffee and add the palm sugar as per need..

Enjoy hot!!!
