MOONG SPROUTS SALAD RECIPE

     I always sprout whole moong by soaking some extra, when I make pesarattu. I usually make Sprouts fired rice,this time thought of making this salad.I just drain water and leave it as such for the day and it sprouts very well. No hanging in cloth or anything,just soak overnight and drain water,keep for a day long,just sprinkle a tsp of water if it gets too dry. It sprouts good.
     Here is a simple salad recipe I make with the sprouts. No such rules or specific ingredients, just add veggies of my choice. The main ingredient I make sure to add is my favorite onion,tomato,lemon juice and clilatro/coriander leaves and chat masala.

Ingredients

Whole moog sprouts 1 cup
Chopped onion 1/4 cup
Chopped tomato 1/4 cup
Grated carrot 1/4 cup
Grated radish 1/4 cup
Lemon juice From a lemon
Chaat masala 1/2 tsp
Cilantro chopped 1-2 tblsp
Salt & pepper As needed
Sev(optional) 2 tblsp

 

Method

  1. Just toss everything in a bowl. Enjoy immediately. Add salt carefully as chat masala already has salt in it. Such easy salad right?

Notes
  • You can add veggies like cucumber,cabbage too.
  • If you want to pack of snack box,avoid tomato,cucumber as it leaves water. You can chop veggies instead of grating.
  • You can also steam the sprouts if you don’t like to chew. But not sure about the nutrition.
