I simply love this kootu with rice and ghee,perfect as accompaniment for vatral kuzhambu and kara kuzhambu!
INGREDIENTS:
Cabbage ,chopped | 2 cups |
Cooked moong dal,(paasi paruppu) | 4 tblsp |
Salt | As needed |
To grind
Coconut | 1/4 cup |
Jeera | 1/2 tsp |
Small onion | 2 nos |
Green chilies | 2 nos |
Rice flour | 1/4 tsp |
To temper:
Mustard | 1 tsp |
Urad dal/ulutham paruppu | 3/4 tsp |
Curry leaves | A sprig |
Coconut oil | 1 tsp |
Method:
- Cook the chopped cabbage with 1& 1/4 cups of water till done.
- Add the cooked mashed moong dal and stir well.
- Grind the ingredients under “To Grind” and stir in to the cooked cabbage.
- Bring to boil and temper with the items in the " tempering table” .
- Mix well and serve as an accompaniment for rice,usually we make this for vatral kuzhambu.(also for kara kuzhambu and puli kuzhambu)
