JEERA RAW BANANA CURRY

Ingredients
  • Raw banana -- 2
  • Turmeric -- little for colour
  • salt -- as needed
  • Oil -- 5 tsp

To grind

  • coconut -- 2 tblsp
  • jeera -- 3/4 tsp
  • red chillies -- 3 - 4 or according to your taste
  • small onions -- 4 nos.

To temper

  • Mustard -- 1 tsp
  • Urad dal --- 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves

METHOD

  • Remove the skin of raw banana and cut into medium sized pieces and keep aside immersed in water.



  • Grind coconut and red chillies first, then add onion and jeera to it and grind coarsely.
  • I added turmeric powder while grinding itself.

  • Heat a kadai with 2 tsp oil and add the tempering items - mustard followed by urad dal and curry leaves.
  • After that,add cut raw banana and fry for a couple of minutes.
  • Then add the ground masala,add required salt and a little water for cooking.
  • Stir well and cook covered for another 2 minutes.


  • After 2 min,open lid and stir carefully and add another 2- 3 tsp of oil.
  • Cook for 5 - 6 min .Stir occasionally
  • Cook till the masala turns to golden brown colour.
  • It will be a nice accompaniment for sambar rice or dhal.
